The trend of technology has always been to reduce the size of the devices to make them more comfortable and versatile to users. Now the multinational Gieseck Devrient has created the so-called nano-SIM that reduces up to 30 percent the size of the smallest of the market, the micro-SIM. The fair “Cartes & Identification” 2012 being held in Paris until the day 17 has been the scenario chosen by the company to launch this new card. This is a SIM a 30 percent smaller than the micro-SIM and nearly 60 percent smaller than the normal SIM, which will mean a reduction in the amount of space allocated to them in the interior of the portable devices. In any case, the 12×9 mm that occupies the mini card are compatible with the current models thanks to a simple adapter. As explained from the company itself, “it is expected that the standardization of the nano-SIM is carried out through the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) at the end of this year. According to company estimates, the first devices that will use this new type of card will reach the market in early 2012.
